What's New in Version 2.3
- SurfSaver 2.3 is now compatible with askSam 5.
askSam is an award winning free-form database software. With askSam, you can

- No Ads in this version. This version does not have any ads in either
Pro or Free version.
Notes for Free Version Users
-
No Support for Multiple Page Level Save. Free Version of
SurfSaver no longer has support for the ability to support multiple page
levels. However, this feature is available in the Pro Version of SurfSaver.
- No Ability to Save Pages on Different Drives and Directories. The
Free Version of SurfSaver cannot save files in different drives and
directories other than the default one. With SurfSaver Pro, you can save files
on your network drives and even zip drives.
- No Network Capability. Free Version of SurfSaver is not network
capable. With SurfSaver Pro, you can share your files and folders with your
office-mates through Local Area Network connections.

Installation
- Installing SurfSaver is a straight-forward
process. Run the SurfSaver .EXE file you download from the Internet, or
(if you receive SurfSaver on CD ROM) place the CD in your drive and run
the SETUP program.
- Follow the instructions on your screen.
Starting SurfSaver
You activate SurfSaver directly from your browser (either Internet Explorer or Netscape).

For Internet Explorer Users:
Start
SurfSaver by clicking on the SurfSaver button
in the IE toolbar (if the button does not appear choose VIEW - EXPLORER BAR - SURFSAVER).
This will open the SurfSaver Explorer bar. Alternatively,
you can place the mouse cursor anywhere on the Web page in your browser and
press the RIGHT mouse button. A popup menu will appear containing the SurfSaver
menu commands (Save, QuickSave and Search).

For Netscape Users:
Start
SurfSaver by clicking the SurfSaver button
in the Netscape personal toolbar. Alternatively, you can choose
Bookmarks and select a SurfSaver ámenu
command.
Saving Web Pages
- Display the Web page you wish to save in your
browser.

Start SurfSaver and choose the "SurfSaver
Save" menu command.
ááááááááááá The SurfSaver Save dialog appears.
- You can modify the title for the page, add
keywords, and add notes. There is also an option which lets you saved all
pages linked to the page. You can even save multiple levels of a Web site.
- Choose OK to save the Web page (or multiple
pages).
Repeat the Save
process for each page you wish to save.
NOTE: You can save all your Web pages in a single folder, or you can
create multiple folders and group pages in different folders. For example, if you
were collecting competitive product information, you could have a separate
folder for each competitive product. See the "Save
Dialog" for details on folders.
Searching
You start a
SurfSaver search from your browser:

Start SurfSaver and choose the "SurfSaver
Search" menu command.
ááááááááááá The SurfSaver Search dialog appears.
- Select the folder (or folders) you wish to
search, and then enter your search request. Choose the SEARCH button to
start the search.
NOTE: If you wish to view all the pages in a folder (or folders), choose the LIST ALL button.
Your browser
screen will split. The bottom part of the screen displays the titles of the
pages that match your search request.
- Click on the title of the page you want to view.
It will appear in the top part of the browser screen.
Exiting SurfSaver
- You can exit SurfSaver the way you would exit
any Web page -- by simply going to another page (URL). You can type the
URL in the location line of your browser, go to a bookmark, or choose the
Home button in your browser. In addition, you can exit SurfSaver by
choosing the CLOSE button
in the Search
Results window or closing your browser.
